I enrolled my freshman son in 9 months of brain training at LearningRx. He was struggling academically due to an expressive language disorder, and I was seriously worried he would be asked to leave the high school he loved (I’d already been given ‘the talk’ by the Principal). We had numerous tutors, but it was clear that he needed more. Things were not ‘sticking’. I was pretty frantic and spent a lot of time researching various programs. As a college Professor with a PhD in Neuroscience, I understand the science behind various ‘rewiring’ programs, although I remained somewhat skeptical. After extensive research, I decided to try Learning Rx for 2 primary reasons: (1) The research using LearningRx is solid (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/…; see also gibsonresearchinstitute.…); (2) Beth and Susie are AWESOME. They shared their experience and knowledge about working with their own children and were clearly devoted to helping my son. After our initial meeting, I knew I had picked the right place. Although LearningRx does require a time commitment, my son loved working with his trainer and never once complained. At the end of his training, my son’s cognitive skills improved dramatically. One of my primary areas of research is neuroplasticity so I really should not have been surprised. One of the best things was that his school performance progressively and consistently improved, and along with it, my son’s confidence level. We went from a solid lower C student to an A/B student, and I could not be happier. At the end of our training, LearningRx recommended some ancillary services to help my son (Maggie Wray – Creating Positive Futures – also HIGHLY recommend) and he is now in a completely different place than he was as a freshman. For the first time, I am optimistic about my son’s future, and am looking forward to touring college campuses with him. LearningRx may not solve every problem a child has, but strengthening cognitive skills and identifying additional learning strategies has been extremely beneficial – actually life-changing – for us. I would recommend this program to any of my friends or family members.
